Duro Olowu And JCP

JCPenney, in the middle of its brand renewal, made a smart with collaborating with Betsey Johnson and now they've made another! For Spring 2013, JCP is collaborating with print mix master Duro Olowu, a Nigerian born London-based designer and winner of British Fashion Award's Designer of the Year (2005). The anticipated collection will vary from women's clothing, accessories, and home pieces and the prices range from $10-$100! I like those prices.

Olowu had this to say about the line, "This collection is for anyone, from 18 to 80... Everything has a flattering element, whether you mix prints or pull out one piece and keep it simple.".

When asked about his relationship with JCP, he said, "I am proud to partner with jcpenney to create and launch this new seasonal collection...Working with jcpenney has allowed me to merge my vision of style and quality with their affordability, resulting in a line that is stylish, beautifully made and accessible. It has been an exciting experience to bring this fashion and home collection to life.”

He described his collection as, "I’ve always tried to give women a sense of inner beauty with joy, and now it’s just the right time to make that more democratic. When I was thinking about this collection, I wanted to give American classic shapes and ideas a global flair".

What can we expect from Olowu? From what I've seen in the preview pictures, lots of radiant, vivid warm colors and fun chromatic patterns. The collection will be available at JCP stores and online starting in March through May 2013.

Big News

Remember when I explained that I was ready to trade my tired iPhone camera for a more professional camera?  I thought I would be able to save enough money to buy one by late March but thanks to my loving sweet Grandma, I was able to get the Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18 MP DSLR 18-55 IS II Lens early and I'm over the moon excited. My outfit and recipes pictures will be of high quality and overall, the blog!

My first photos, not bad for a novice playing around with a DSLR camera

I'm in the learning process of deciphering what the buttons and code letters mean but it's been a fun process. I'm looking forward to posting my first outfit post with the new camera which will be sometime early January and I hope you are too.

Red, Green, And Gold

With only 3 days until Christmas, I'm wearing more traditional holiday colors and patterns. It's an easy way to get into the spirit. You've seen my chunky green sweater before. To play up the classic Christmas colors, I wore a red thrifted collared top underneath the sweater along with red and gold heart earrings, a gold ring, red flats, and my favorite ripped jeans.

My favorite accessory is my chubby hubby JellyBelly. Ladies, isn't he sexy? I mean look at those little white chocolate dipped paws. Oh my goodness!

P.S. I'm shopping around for a new camera so I can retire my tired out iPhone camera. If you have suggestions on a reasonably priced one, perfect for bloggers, please write in your suggestions! Your opinions matter a great deal to me.

Gift Guide #7: The Traveler

They're always returning or going away; whether it's for business or pleasure. Either way, their passport is more marked up than your first car and you're certain they're on a first name basis with their airline and staff. You worry about their safety and understand their traveling woos so why not help them out through a gift. A present that can help relieve just one traveling pest will be of big help!

MORE IDEAS

Gift Guide #6: The Kiddos & Teens

If you don't have children, shopping for them can be daunting. Which toy, book, or size is right? On the other hand, if you have kids, you pray that what they'll receive won't have many parts or require batteries (can we say headaches?!).With the parents' and children's wishes in mind, I've found some pretty cool gifts for the children in your lives. All gifts are $100 and under and can be found a store near you since online shops' before Christmas deadline has passed. If you're looking for something for a teen, jump below!

I find teens to be the easist to shop for. They want everything but have little money so what they receive, they love (for the most part).  They are more upfront about their wish list and their hobbies are more well developed.
