New Year Resolutions

The beginning of the year brings hope, promises, and personal goals. Unfortunately, by June, over 50% of us will give up and lose sight on their new year resolutions. I have one resolution that I've been using for the past few years: to lose 15 pounds but it hasn't happened. Last year, I even joined a gym but by summer time I had lost motivation and the willpower. I ended up canceling my membership by September :(

My new resolution is to go swing dancing more this year; at least once a month. I LOVE LOVE swing dancing, it is actually how Johnny and I met. It's so much fun, I love the music, the people, and getting all dressed up.

To help reach my old new years resolution I've created a new page, "New Year's Resolution" (located on top next to "Outfit of the Week" page). This new page will track my progress, include updates, feature tips, and etc. I plan on using Johnny's wii fitness game for my exercise since it's too expensive to join a gym again.

I hope you'll join me on my journey towards finally conquering my goal and who knows, maybe this will be just the kick in the ass you'll need too!

What are your new year resolutions? Do you have your go-to ones? How will you make sure that you stay on track? Got any tips!?! Let me know in the comment section below :)

New Year's Eve Fashion

This Saturday is New Year's Eve! If you are going to a party then you must go all out for the last night of 2011. It's the perfect occasion for sexy sequins, sparkles, glitter, bold colors, LBD. I'm a huge fan of wearing dresses to parties. Although the weather isn't ideal, I know that the party won't be outdoors (at least I hope) so I'll suffer the walk from my car to the location. For those gals really suffering the frigid temperatures, try throwing on a pair of tights underneath and rock a cute cardigan.

May all of my dolls have a wonderful, exciting, and happy New Years!

NYC Trip Shopping List

Johnny surprised me with an awesome Christmas gift, three days and two nights stay in NEW YORK CITY. I'm absolutely in love with NYC and try to visit as often as possible. We are planned to go during the second week of January. Before we leave, there's one thing I must do to prepare, go shopping!  I am in desperate need for a new winter coat, a pair of boots, and a new purse. It would be just awful if I went to the greatest city without a new purse (mine is all ratty and pathetic looking) and a pair of cute warm boots (I currently have none).

The task of finding the three items is actually starting to get me nervous because I'm very picky when it comes to shopping for accessories and I got to find the perfect one for me. In order for the purse, coat, or boots in enter my home it MUST meet the requirements:
  • Vintage inspired
  • Versatile
  • Comfortable
  • Keep me warm
  • Not crazy expensive
So, looks like I got my work cut out for me, huh? What stores and/or brands do you recommend?

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!!! I hope you are able to be with your love ones today and hopefully enjoy a merry, bright, and white Christmas!

Did you get what you wished for? Were you naughty or nice this year? I think I was mostly nice ;)Did you drink lots of eggnog or pig out on cookies and pie? I hope you did it all and then some and didn't feel guilty a bit. After all isn't that was the new year is for?

Vintage Hairstyles

In a previous post I explored some fabulous party outfits. However, no outfit is complete without the right shoes hairstyle. I am obsessed with all things vintage and that include hair styles. My favorite styles are from the '40s-'60s. I've included some pictures for inspiration of the perfect styles to do with this season's party fashion and a couple of tutorial videos to help achieve these glamorous and feminine looks! I adore the soft curls, do you? Or do you prefer Bardot's sex kitten teased hair?

Holiday E-Card Exchange

I'm back loves!

Thank you for being patient with me, I know the outfit of the week has not been regulary updated nor the posts. Now my fall semester is over and I've had time to recouporate, I'm ready to jump back into the blogger world with full force and lots of energy. I hope you'll join me for the ride.

On that note, I like to introduce you to my blogger friend, Zobia, who manages the blog, The Life of a Zobot. You can also follow her on twitter @pinkisfunny. She has a wonderful idea for a holiday e-card exchange for bloggers. You got to create your own e-card, and then send anonmously to another blogger. On Christmas day, you'll receive an e-card. Fun, right?! Please visit her blog if you are interested and be creative! I can't wait to see what e-card I will get on Christmas day. Who knows, maybe you'll receive mine ;)

Classic Holiday Movies

Nothing helps me more get into the holiday spirit like watching old Christmas movies. I live for the evenings when I get to grab my snowman cup filled with eggnog, grab a couple or 20 (don't judge me!) warm gooey chocolate chip cookies, and being snuggled on the couch with Johnny or Jellybelly (both are great cuddlers). I've created a list of what I believe to be the ultimate get-you-in-the-spirit-movies with the classics and the favorite recents.

Did any of these make your list? Tell me the comment section below.

End of the semester

Hi loves!

Happy December! This month usually means school stress, finals, group projects, and the occasional one or two white hairs. Until I begin my winter break on Dec 15, I will be updating my blog far less than usual but the Outfit of the Week will still be kept up to date.

Until then,  feel free to visit my past posts and follow me on Twitter, where I'll be more present for the next couple of weeks. The twitter name is @vintagedanielle

Please wish me lots of luck while I attempt to study and take five finals in two days and I will see you again in a couple of weeks.

Thanksgiving

Hello loves

I hope you were able to see and spend quality fun time with your family and friends and the turkey! I loved seeing my little chubby niece, Audrey, 7 months old, and the rest of the family. The food was just delicious, especially my favorite dishes, stuffing with cranberries, green bean casserole, and fruit of the forest pie

This was the first year I went Black Friday shopping and it was an experience. My mom and aunt went along with me to Target and Kohl's for their midnight opening. We went to Target first but didn't get in line until 11:40. The line was so long but thankfully the security guards had waves of people enter in the store so it didn't get too crazy. I saved almost $80 at Target and $90 at Kohl's.

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you brave though Black Friday?

Holiday Party Fashion

I love holiday parties! The food, music, friends, family, laughter, and the of course the clothes! I can't stand seeing someone attend a holiday party in just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt because where's the holiday spirit? Where's the outfit that perfect for the holiday season? I mean if you must wear jeans then wear a nice sweater or a festive blouse, not your grandparents' embarrassing wacky tops, unless that's the party theme.

For Thanksgiving, I tend to wear rustic orange, mustard, brown, green, and the occasional plum.

For Christmas, I wear the always popular red, green, silver, gray, black, and gold.

2011 holiday trends are: vintage glam, sequins, lace, glitter, and plaid. I found some great online shops that carry vintage and vintage inspired clothes. Enjoy! And remember, don't be boring and have fun!
