June Wish List - 3 Must Have Outfits

Here's my June wish list, broken down into 3 must have outfits I know I'll wear this month. The first outfit include beautiful ocean and seaside colors. The lace dress and its juicy tones is darling for a night out and I love the shades. I wish I didn't have to wear prescription glasses because I would buy those sunglasses in every color imaginable!

The second outfit is what I would wear to the beach or my apartment's pool. I'm obsessed with lemon print and the color yellow so naturally, I created this! I want the bathing suit sooo freaking badly!! I would order a similar one off of online but my body is so tricky and I need to try things on plus I hate the hassle of returning and shipping, too much work for my lazy ass.

The last outfit is for the summer thunderstorms. Do you get excited about summer storms like me? There's just something about the sweet smell of the air and how the rain breaks humidity, makes me swoon, just like this cool ass umbrella. The red umbrella matches my red rain boots and I love the style, it's retro glam. The vintage crop top and cross patterend shorts are my eye candy. I'm not a regular shorts wearer but I'd wear that!

Swimsuit Guide: What To Wear For Your Body

One of the worst things a girl has to do is try on bathing suits. Yesterday, I went shopping for some new bathing suits and left the dressing room empty handed, disappointed, and frustrated. I do have a cute skirted bottom at home (Victoria's Secret) that I love because it conceals my hips and love handles but I'm tired of the color black and wanted to find another bottom in a brighter color.

Majority of what's on the racks are for skinny minnies or plus sized women, but what about the in between girls? What about women with hourglass, busty, apple, petite, and pear figures? It's tough for women to find what works for them if they're not a stick figure. And even petite women have a hard time finding something that isn't too loose.

After Memorial Day fashion magazines and blogs go into describing the best bathing suit for your body type and for the most part, they are on point. Other times they miss completely. One common complaint is the models used to depict curvy women are all skin and bones and makes it impossible for the reader to visualize themself in that swimsuit. Other is that the advice just doesn't make sense or the average price of a suggested piece is way too much. Well, I want to change that! By combining my experience of swimsuit shopping along with taking the best of the best in shopping advice, and thinking of your financial budget (most pieces are $100 or less!!), I'll share with you what I know to be true. So let's start!

Athletic body types have two main choices: create a more feminine shape through ruffles, flirty floral or stripes OR go the complete opposite with a sleek suit, cutouts and seaming.

Deep necklines and bustier tops like a halter are your friends, rock it! Embrace what your mama gave you. Please avoid the bandeua, I've never seen a woman wear it right and it doesn't do anything for any chest size.

You have a hard time finding suits that fit you right. Often times the bottoms are too big. Try a string bikini! You can cinch the side ties for a snug fit. You can have a lot of fun with wild and loud prints but stay away from solid colors. Embellished pieces add extra volume to where you want.

Don't feel that you can only go to the one piece. You can work a two piece as long as the top have adjustable straps, underwire, and extra support. A sweetheart neckline creates pinup-worthy cleavage and lots of support

A classic midrise bikini, or a bikini bottom with side strings are amazing because you can adjust to avoid annoying bumps and lumps. For a two piece, try a color blocking your bikini with the bottoms a darker solid print and the top a lighter solid print. A wrapped one piece will also flatter your curves and camouflage your tummy.
This is a problem I face (large hips and a hourglass figure). Usually, women try to minimize their hips through boy shorts but the focus goes to top of the thighs, the widest part of your body. High-cut briefs lengthens your legs, makes you look leaner, and draws the eye away from the hips to your small waist. If you feel uncomfortable in a bikini bottom, go for a skirt but avoid ones with more than an inch past your bottom. I hate being in a one piece because from my backside, the eyes go right to my hips and makes my bottom look smaller.

2013 Swim Suit Guide Series

With the passing of Memorial Day, it is unofficially summer! Time for days lounging at the beach, picnics at the lake, festive outdoor concerts, backyard barbecues, and for some girls, the dreaded swimsuit season. If you're like me, you've been workout more in preparation as well as looking into bathing suits guides for your body. Here at Vintage Danielle, the Swimsuit Guide 2013 has begun!!

Over the next few days, I'll be posting about how to find the right swimsuit for your body, methods on moisturizing and exfoliating your skin, simple toning techniques that will show progress in two weeks or less, how to dress around a bathing suit for when you're out on the town, hottest trends of the season, and my favorite bathing suits of the season, all right here!

So let's get started right now with preparing your body and skin to look its best! Your skin is your best accessory with swimsuits. You're showing it off the most during summer and with a little preparation, you'll want to show yourself off baby!

THREE KEY elements to glowing beach ready skin are: exfoliation, moisturizing, and self tanning.

Exfoliation
Use a gentle everyday body scrub. I like St. Ives Apricot Gentle or Renew & Firm Scrub for my face, legs, arms, and stomach. Rub the scrub in a circular motion, spending a few extra seconds on rough spots like knees, elbows, and feet. An oil-based version will give you extra hydration. Doing this everyday will also help make shaving your legs much easier and smoother.

If you suffer from body acne like back acne, purchase a simple loofah on a stick and rub with a body acne wash with salicylic acid like Neutragena Body Clear Wash.

Moisturizing
After sloughing off the dead skin cells, you'll need to hydrate the new ones! After your morning shower and before going to bed at night, make it a point to moisturize your skin. Pick a moisturizer that is tailored to your skin care needs. Focus in on your knees, feet, and elbows. One trick I use to soften my feet and hands is this magical jelly.

If your feet took a beating during the colder months, get them flip flop ready by placing your feet in a large bowl of equal parts warm milk and water. The lactic acid naturally eats away at dead skin. After five minutes, buff away any calluses and rough spots with a pumice stone. Afterwards, treat your little piggies to a fun nail polish!
Self Tanning
One way to prepare your body for summer is to give it a little faux glow. I'm not a fan of tan beds or tanning in general. A little color is not worth risking your life with skin cancer. I like self tanning because it's harmless and you can do it in the comfort of your own home. To warm up your skin, try a gradual self-tanner moisturizer like Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer. It'll take five to seven days for your skin color to look is tannest; afterward, apply the lotion every other day to maintain your glow.

Here are some tips on how to apply it correctly!

If you don't have 5-7 days, try a body bronzer! You'll achieve a tanned look right away and it'll last until you're next shower. Don't forget to use a gradual self-tanner moisturizer, specific to your skin tone, and matte bronzer (where the sun hits you) for your face.

More Lemons Please

I've been seeing this beautiful lemon print everywhere from bloggers like Anna James of Fash Boulevard, Mindy of the TV show 'The Mindy Project', and everywhere else on the internet and fashion magazines. The lemon print is so fresh and fun for summer. I love the delicious bright yellows and greens and yummy lemons.

Here's how you can wear the juicy print this summer:

AT THE BEACH

AT BRUNCH

The only bad thing about the print is how EXPENSIVE the pieces can be! The infamous Alice+Olivia lemon dress, skirt, and crop top are each about $300 or more, yikes!! I did find some other lemon patterned pieces that are more reasonably priced like Dorothy Perkins' dress

Here are other fabulous lemon pieces all under $100! Personally, I want them all and now have a craving for some sliced lemon dipped in sugar, yum!

Are you a fan of the juicy print
or would you rather leave lemons on the kitchen table?
