Target is rolling out another fabulous designer collaboration and this time it is with hot celeb stylist Kate Young. Young has worked with clients like Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. In 2012, she was named Hollywood's most powerful stylist by The Hollywood Reporter. Now with her debut line, you can dress like a star without breaking the bank. The limited edition collection, available starting April 14th, features a mix of daytime-cool and upscale occasion classy
outfits ($29.99 to $89.99), as well as edgy and elegant
shoes, handbags, and accessories ($14.99 to $49.99). It is easy to see her personal style of personal tough-luxe shine through each of her pieces.
What she has to say about her collaboration, "I've been working with Target for a number of years as a stylist, so
having the chance to design my own collection with a brand I already
know and love is like a dream come true,” said Kate Young. “With this
collection, I wanted to design standout pieces that allow women to
experiment with fashion and create their own red carpet moments.”.
My idol, beautiful and hilarious Betty White, is celebrating her 91st birthday today! The animal lover said, "To help celebrate my 91st birthday on January 17, please help me raise $10,000 for Morris Animal Foundation,
which will celebrate its 65th anniversary of advancing animal health
this year. Since a girl like me already has more than I
could hope for, I'm asking fellow animal lovers to learn more about
Morris Animal Foundation and to consider helping me make this gift to
Morris Animal Foundation today."
You can send the lovely golden girl a birthday wish by donating at least $10 to the honorable charity. Betty has worked with the Morris Animal Foundation for over 40 years and has helped in its investment of over $70 million towards health studies for cats, dogs, and 100s of wildlife species. The research, funded through Morris Animal Foundation, have become gold standards in veterinary care in cures, diagnostics, treatments, and preventions.
Anne Hathaway is brilliant! I want to be her friend and go shopping with her and talk about deep stuff over a cup of hot apple cider (she can have tea or coffee, I won't judge). After watching her host Saturday Night Live for the third time, she has won my heart and I've developed a huge girl crush. She has a wonderful singing voice, great comedic timing, and can play serious raw roles beautifully. Is there anything this girl can't do?
Check out her pipes in her SNL opening monologue. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by the vocal talent of the whole cast, especially Jason Sudeikis and Taram Killam. You can tell she had fun and didn't hold back.
Did I mention she's on the cover of Vogue's December issue? She rocks her new short hair do with such confidence and freedom.
All photographs were done by Annie Leibovitz
Here's a sneak peek on what Anne said in her interview with Vogue and Adam Green:
On her new pixie hairstyle, “I love the short-haired lifestyle,” Hathaway tells me with a laugh (she
laughs a lot). “It’s awesome that I was able to go for a hike right
before I came here to meet you, quickly wash my hair, and now it’s dry.”
The only downside, she says, is having to get her hair cut every three
weeks. “But I’m turning 30, and—I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say—I
feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more
satisfied with less now.”
On her big moment in the new movie, "A few weeks before we filmed it, I realized how I was going to have to
sing it, and that it wasn’t going to be pretty,” Hathaway says. “First
of all, it could never have compared with Patti LuPone or Lea
Salonga”—both of whom have played Fantine onstage—“or even my mom,
really: powerful singers with big, beautiful voices. I knew I couldn’t
offer that, but I also knew it wouldn’t be appropriate. If I went for
sounding beautiful while looking like this tragic wreck, it would be
ridiculous. And I saw an opportunity, because of the nature of film, to
just go for it and let it be alive and present and raw.”
On her career now, “I’d feel a little silly and overly dramatic to say that this feels like
destiny,” she says. “But to have this come full circle in such a
spectacular way—it’s making me very happy.” She thinks about it for a
moment and laughs. “OK, it feels a little like destiny.”
I can't wait until Les Miserables comes out in theatres (on December 25). Anne plays Fantine, a struggling mother and prostitue who has TB. The previews has given me chills and my inner musical geek is super excited to see such a well executed musical out on the big screen.
So, Anne, if you're reading this, Hi, I love you and your work, let's have coffee drinks and share secrets while brushing each other's hair?
MAC has honored and paid tribute to the late beauty icon, Marilyn Monroe, through its latest collection. The limited edition 30 piece line includes four alluring eye shadows, black mascara, eyeliners, five glamorous nail lacquers, bombshell eyeliner, two lipgloss, brow finishers, two blush, three lip pencils, and five luscious lipsticks. The collection is sprinkled with enduring names like Preferred Blonde, Charmed I’m Sure, and Deeply Adored. The collection will be up on MAC website starting September 27 and available for purchase on October 4. What I really love about the products is the packaging, each item has a lovely black and white photograph of Marilyn Monroe. The prices are very affordable, ranging from $15-27. I think it's wonderful that Marilyn is still getting the respect and recognition she deserves as a beauty icon. Younger generations will be reintroduced to the late luminary, and I'm so glad!

The electric fabulous Betsey is following the trend of designers collaborating with retail stores. Johnson's off-the-runway collection, Betseyville, is filled with whimsical, funky, colorful accessories, lingerie, pajamas, handbags, and shoes. The color pink, gold and silver metals, roses, and animal prints are very prominent in the wallet friendly collection. The feminine and spunky pieces are perfect for free spirted women who wish they could own a piece of Betsey's designs but without the high price.
After a successful collaboration with Target, Jason Wu has partnered with Nordstrom. Jason Wu will introduce Miss Wu, a younger (teens and young women) and modern collection. It's a 1960s mod-inspired 40 piece line that'll be feminine with great use of printed shifts, floral skirts, striped tops. and bows. The collection will be available through VIA C's department in January 2013. Unlike Target's collection, the prices are higher; ranging from $195 (blouse) to $705 (leather jacket).
When speaking about his new collection, Wu had this to say, "Instead of just doing ‘Jason Wu-for-less,’ the idea is to explore the
other side of myself. I always see Jason Wu [the collection] as my
aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It
was really fun to explore that facet of who I am — slightly more
downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude".
It's nice to see that Miss Wu will be created with a more personal touch. Although I'm not sure I would personally purchase from the collection, it's nice to Jason Wu reach all budgets, ranging from Target to Nordstrom.
The long term plan is after the one year exclusive contract to bring Miss Wu into wholesale and expand into accessories by 2014.
This is my second post of the Music In My Life series. You can catch the first here! As a child, my first crushes were singers, sadly most of them had already passed on before I was born. But that didn't stop me from daydreaming and wishing I was alive while they were so I could have been one of their lucky ladies or at least see them perform live. Where is a damn time machine when you need it? Is there someone working on it? Seriously let's make this happen.
The talented men who stole my heart through their song were: Elvis Presley, Desi Arnaz, and Frank Sinatra.

Besides their gorgeous looks and great heads of hair, they had real talent. No auto-tune, no computer fixes, nothing but pure vocal chords and instruments.
Lindsay Lohan will be staring in Lifetime's original movie, Liz and Dick, along with Grant Bowler. The movie is about Elizabeth Taylor's romantic relationship with Richard Burton. When I first read about the casting of the movie I was honestly shocked! I could perhaps see Lohan playing Marilyn Monroe (her idol) but not Taylor. There were rumors that Megan Fox was also a possible option. However, after seeing some of the still shots of the movie, I could be wrong. According to People magazine, the movie's costume director, Salvatore Perez, said when Lindsay came on set in costume for the first
time, "There was an audible gasp. You’d swear it was Elizabeth".
Although Lohan is mostly known for her stints in the tabloids, she is a pretty good actress and I'm very curious to see how the movie plays out. As an admirer of Elizabeth Taylor I do hope that Lohan does the role with justice and dignity.
Here are some still shots of Lohan as Taylor.
