Trend Alert: Floral Crowns

Flower crowns are seen as dramatic, over the top, meant for fashion magazines and the runway only, not for the average girl or are they? By shrinking down the size of flowers you lose the often times outrageous silly feeling. This season, fashion gurus and magazines are showing us how to accessorize with these darling floral crowns and honestly, I'm all on board! I like the bohemian feel, the crowns are romantic, girly, and oh so pretty.

Here's how you wear the latest S/S 2013 hair accessory right

TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR
  • Keep it simple. If you want a more laid back look, stray away from crowns with large flowers and added details like baby breath.
  • Updos and hair down are both workable!
  • If you want the attention drawn to your hair, your blouse should be pretty calm and basic, try a solid top. Creams, grays, blacks, whites, pinks are beautiful colors to pair with.
  • I think a more natural soft beauty look works well with floral crowns. Try a pink based or berry lip stain, a soft shimmer of the cheeks and clean eyes.

WHERE TO WEAR: these IT hair accessories would be perfect to wear at the beach, concerts, festivals, picnics, weddings, and hell wherever and whenever you want!!

Perfume Of The Moment

The perfume of the month is Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, which I find so appropriate given the namesake and the beautiful month of May. The fragrance is described as a floral explosion which releases a profusion of flowers that has the power to make everything seem more positive. Magically evocative notes immediately awaken your deepest senses, giving you the impression of living life in your own secret garden, away from reality. Sambac jasmine, centifolia rose, cattleya orchid, and ballerina freesia bloom on a base of patchouli.

Doesn't that sound like Springtime perfection? The soft and light perfume's style is described as Oriental, Gourmand, and of course, Floral. I think Flowerbomb is such an inviting scent for spring and summer and it lasts all day! It's been said that majority of men really like the scent so if you're looking for your summer romance, try picking up a bottle. The bottle itself is a fun design, it resembles a hand grenade, and given that the name is Flowerbomb, I get it.

Victor & Rolf also created a men's version, Spicebomb. The explosive colognes is infused with the codes of masculine perfumery with olfactory dynamite. Spicebomb is an explosive cocktail of virility that transforms you into a powerful, intense and daring man

Spicebomb is described as an explosive encounter between two accords with detonating tones: the first, explosive, fuses zesty, fresh notes while the cold spices leave their icy bite. The second, addictive, combines a middle note of incandescent spices with a wholly masculine combination of leather and tobacco as well as the brute force of vetiver.

The top notes are bergamot, grapefruit, pink pepper, and elemi. The base notes include leather, vetiver, and tobacco while the middle include cinnamon, chili pepper, and saffron. The style is explosive, addictive, and seductive. It's a nice, clean scent without being overpowering.

Sounds pretty sexy, right? I'm about to pick up a bottle for Johnny :)

Hairscarf Obsession

My spring/summer hairstyle obsession is this cute as a button hair accessory, the scarf. I'm currently struggling with recreating retro looks on my own; it's probably because I'm not using the right scarf (shopping?!?) but until then, let's look at how the vintage style is done RIGHT, tips on keeping it modern, and watch talented women transform their hair into different looks with just one pretty scarf.

Keeping It Modern: to avoid looking like a Halloween costume wear your regular clothes and avoid the overdone retro scarf patterns and colors like red, black, and polka dots. Try bright tones, floral, skulls, crosses, or whatever grabs your attentions and works with your outfit.

May Wish List

Sometimes when I'm feeling uninspired on the blog I'll head to one of my favorite go-to posts, which  is the Monthly Wish List. My wish lists are what I long for in my closet if I didn't live on a budget. I would buy these fabulous new pieces and wear the hell out of them all season long.

This month I'm really into light bright colors like creamy yellow and stark white. My forever obsession with polka dots are still strong as ever but I threw in a pair of striped shoes because I like the nautical look. Isn't the cutout dress darling? It's so easy to dress up or dress down, the mesh chest is very sexy, and the cutout design is everywhere in 2013!

Dressed All In White

Yesterday I read Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere's "Spring Suit" post and fell in love her all in white head-to-toe outfit! All white outfits were very popular for winter because it was fresh and unexpecting but with little updates and fabric changes, it's fabulous for Spring too!

What I adore about Emily's look was how she paired it with neutral accessories and poppy colored lips. Sometimes color isn't always needed and the neutral colors were very refreshing and chic.

Spring Inspiration

Spring has offically hit Virginia and I'm (do do do do do) loving it. I've worn only dresses these past few days and it feels so good to be back in them. What can I say, I'm a dress girl. The fabulous weather and change in wardrobe has inspired me to make a little My Style + Spring collage to express my inspiration.
