What To Wear - Wedding Edition

Now that summer is in full swing we all know that really means, it's wedding season! Chances are if you're 24 or over, you'll be attending at least two weddings this year. Being a wedding guest has its own list of complications, from finding a gift, dealing with travel arrangements, awkward conversations with guests you don't know or wish you avoid, and of course planning on what to wear.

Based on the wedding date, location, and invitation, you can determine the proper dress code. But if you're still unsure, it's best to just ask the bride or groom. It's better to ask than to be sorry and come over or under dressed.

Here are general DOS and DON'TS

1. DON'T wear white, silver, cream, or any color similar to white, It's just bad taste. Let the bride have her day.
2. DO think ahead about the location and weather when it comes to your shoes and fabric of the dress. You don't want to wear heavy fabric to an outdoor July wedding nor a light and airy dress to a winter wedding.
3. Speaking of shoes, DO find fabulous and comfy heels so you can dance all night without getting painful blisters!
4. Leave the cleavage baring dresses at home. DON'T outsex or outdo the bride but that doesn't mean you can't show off your toned arms or legs. Dress tastefully and if you're unsure, then it's best pick something else.
5. You DON'T need to run out and buy a whole new outfit for every wedding, unless you want to. As long as majority of the party hasn't seen you in that dress, then go ahead a rock what's already in your closet. If you only have one wedding 'type' outfit and its been seen before and can't afford to buy a new one then try changing up your heels, accessories, and hair style for a new look.

Trend Alert: Floral Crowns

Flower crowns are seen as dramatic, over the top, meant for fashion magazines and the runway only, not for the average girl or are they? By shrinking down the size of flowers you lose the often times outrageous silly feeling. This season, fashion gurus and magazines are showing us how to accessorize with these darling floral crowns and honestly, I'm all on board! I like the bohemian feel, the crowns are romantic, girly, and oh so pretty.

Here's how you wear the latest S/S 2013 hair accessory right

TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR
  • Keep it simple. If you want a more laid back look, stray away from crowns with large flowers and added details like baby breath.
  • Updos and hair down are both workable!
  • If you want the attention drawn to your hair, your blouse should be pretty calm and basic, try a solid top. Creams, grays, blacks, whites, pinks are beautiful colors to pair with.
  • I think a more natural soft beauty look works well with floral crowns. Try a pink based or berry lip stain, a soft shimmer of the cheeks and clean eyes.

WHERE TO WEAR: these IT hair accessories would be perfect to wear at the beach, concerts, festivals, picnics, weddings, and hell wherever and whenever you want!!

Floral Peplum + Need White Heels

I got this insanely cute floral peplum dress at Forever 21 a while back and it has been patiently waiting its chance to shine and today was the day. The sun was warm, there was a gentle breeze, and hardly any clouds in the sky; such a beautiful Spring day that I just had to wear this dress. The pattern reminded me of the 1990s and the peplum did a fabulous job of camouflaging my tummy while showing off my curves. BUT there's one thing I forgot when I put on the dress, I had absolutely no shoes that match!! The dress clearly needs white heels so I'm on a hunt for a pair. Until then, these pink sandals did the job, poorly, but I wasn't about to go barefoot in the grass with nasty bugs crawling between my toes, no thanks.

So besides the need for hot white heels, isn't the dress just cute or what?

Now I need your help! In the comment section, tell me which heel works BEST with the dress. It would be of a huge help to get all of your opinions.

Which white heel for my floral peplum dress?

The Colors of Spring 2013 Beauty

So I've covered some of the key fashion trends for this Spring so now let's talk about beauty! This season it's all about experimenting with bright feminine fresh colors like emerald green, teal, poppy, hot pink, coral, stark white, copper, and sheer plum.

The Colors of Spring '13 Beauty

Why These Colors Own Spring

Emerald: It's the IT color of 2013 as declared by Pantone. The vibrant shade looks amazing as nail polish or eyeliner.

Teal: The gorgeous metallic blue-green color is perfect for eyeliner. It'll add a subtle hint of a twist without going overboard.

Copper/Platinum: Ditch the common gold for a sexier and more mature shade of copper for your eyeshadow. Try pairing copper with a smudgy black liner for a night look. For those with a fair complexion, platinum is a perfection switch up from silver. Keep the rest of your look simple so stay away from shimmery blush or lip gloss and let your eyes stand out.

Poppy: Sure red lips are a classic but matte poppy lips are lighter switch up. What's great about poppy red is that the shade works well on all skin tones and adds a touch of warm Spring into your look.

Coral/Hot Pink: Two beautiful shades for your lips and cheeks. Coral and hot pink are beauty symbols for Spring and Summer, reminding us of days spent out in the warm sun and blooming flowers. Both colors add a warm glow and the right amount of color to your cute little face.

Opaque White: One of the hottest colors for Spring and Summer is a more sophisticated stark white, perfect for nail polish and subtle lower eyeliner. For your nails, choose a nonstreaky nail polish formula with a shiny finish.

Sheer Plum: Plum isn't always thought of when you think of Spring beauty but have you tried sheer plum for your cheeks? By lightening up the shade, your cheeks are given a flushed, fresh look.

Which is your favorite color to try?
