Big News

You may have noticed that the blog hasn't been active this week, my bad. I've been up in Connecticut, visiting doctors, my orthodontist, and of course family. Why? If you remember I wrote about my personal self esteem issues and where it stemmed from as well as the physical issues that came along with Nager Syndrome (sorry, can't find that post for the life of me). My BIG news is that on March 13 (tentative date), I'll be undergoing reconstructive surgery which will help relieve my jaw aches, headaches, and allow me to smile with ease and overtime, more confidence. This isn't my first reconstructive surgery but I'm hoping it'll be my last.

Now that is out in the open, let's move on to next week and what I have planned. I'll be writing about what to wear for Valentine's Day, up and coming Spring trends, fabulous new nail polish I'm obsessed with, and whatever else pops up. Until then, check out the belated outfit of the week.

Oh JohnnyWhizzBang!

I'm back and it feels sooo good! I've been on a week long hiatus from VintageDanielle to concentrate on a  psychology paper and other projects. It's great to be writing for pleasure rather than for grade.

On a different note, it's pretty obvious that I love all things vintage and retro. It's been my belief and of my friends' and family's that I was born in the wrong era or perhaps I was living back in the 1930-70s (Reincarnation?). I bring this up because one of my good twitter friends is the creator of the cute, vintage, and fun website, JohnnyWhizzBang. It's a nostalgic home for retro vintage pop culture, fashion, history, stories, and photographs. Johnny just redesigned the website and it looks wonderful! Honestly, whenever I need a vintage pick-me-up I visit here. It's nice to glace at the clothing, pictures, listen to music, and then to internally wish that I had a time traveler (how cool would that be?!?).

The online shop offer cute tops, full skirts, and accessories. I'm thinking of ordering the Quirky Zoo skirt. I could totally see myself wearing in during the summer time and monkeying around. Yeah a cheesy pun but I couldn't help myself :)

When you get a chance, I hope you'll visit my friend's site and see for yourself how much fun it is and soon you'll be wishing you had a time machine.

Peeking Behind The Blogger Curtain

Vintage Danielle has been up and running since August of 2011, so quite recently. As I look through the older posts and pages, I got the impression that my readers might not really know who I am. I do have an About and My Family page but they only provide a quick peek. If you'll let me, I'd like to step out from behind the blogger curtain, just for a moment (like in Wizard of Oz) to share myself with you. Let's see, what can I say that hasn't already been said....

  • I am 21 going onto 22 on March 24 (Aries baby)
  • I'm more than ready yet terrified to graduate college. My whole life has been centered about school so it'll be strange to move on.
  • I was born with Nager syndrome, which is a rare craniofacial disease that includes underdevelopment of the facial bones/features and lack of the 3 little inner ear bones. I do wear tiny hearing aids and have had about 20 operations, I'll be having a corrective jaw surgery within the next two years (my mouth will be wired shut for 3-4 weeks, ahh!)
  • I'm self-conscious of my eyes, due to the syndrome, but I'm slowly trying to cope with it.
  • My mom is my rock and my main support system. She's always been so supportive and wants me to be happy. How lucky am I?
  • I'm the only child in my family and loved it! More Disney trips, ice cream sundaes, toys, and hugs for me :)
  • I'm more introverted than extroverted. Now you can say that it's due to my syndrome; I was shy as a child and it carried through into my early adults years OR it could be due to the fact that many people annoy me and I rather just be away from that. However, when I'm in a small group, I'm more myself.
  • I grew up watching I Love Lucy which started my love for all things vintage.
  • I always wanted to be a Broadway actress and live in NYC for a year.

I hope you enjoyed getting a clearer and deeper picture of who the girl behind Vintage Danielle is!
