Currently Obsessed - Prada F/W 2013

I recently saw the video promotion for Prada's F/W 2013 collection and I was super happy and then super sad because I knew there's no way in hell I could ever afford any of the pieces. Nonetheless, it's still exciting to drool over the vintage inspired line. I just adore the feminine style of the coats with a defined waist and a flared bottom, the bold lip, cute belts, and fur cuffs (only if it's not real fur)! The only thing I'm not obsessed over is the wet hair look. I never got that appeal, what's so great about looking like you were running late and didn't have enough time to blow dry your hair??

Phillip Lim X Target

More Target news? Well, I can't help that and in fact I think you'll want to read about this new designer collaboration. Starting September 15th, an exclusive and limited edition 3.1 Phillip Lim line for Target, including designs for both women and men, will be available.

Phillip Lim For Target

3.1 Phillip Lim can be described as Easy to wear, cutting-edge and young at heart—3.1 Phillip Lim embodies the cool-girl aesthetic. Launched in 2005 to instant acclaim, the brand updates classic
silhouettes with daring, trend-right twists. Sounds perfect for Target's younger customer base who are already in love with the previous collaborations and are into high-low fashion.

On Target's press webpage New York based designer Lim says: “Since an early age, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of design evolution. One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible.”

The line will include more than 100 items with a price range of $20 to $300. One of the more higher priced pieces his is signature leather jacket which will range from $250-$300 (a major steal compared to his 3.1 leather jacket of $1,850!). Majority of the items will be available at just under $50. Phillip Lim's designer tops can go for over $700 and his dresses range from $450-$800 so I suggest getting in line EARLY if you want a piece or two from the collection. What I really like about this collection is that it includes menswear which is rare for designer collaborations with Target.

Marc Jacobs X Sephora

During Miu Miu's Spring 2013 fashion show, Jacobs shared with WWD executive editor, Bridget Foley, about his new cosmetic line and his collaboration with the beauty superstore, Sephora. He explained, “I always wonder, ‘Is there really going to be something else [other than fashion] that we’re going to do that I’m going to sit through and enjoy?’” This time around, the answer was yes. “I get jaded, then I get excited all over again.”

“Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed — things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, makeup — that’s what fashion’s about for me,” Jacobs told WWD. If he inputs his passion onto this line, I know it's going to be good.

Not much has been revealed about the line but I'm sure as the time gets closer, details will be out to the public. Until then, we can only dream and speculate what's to come.

Autumnize Your Summer Staples

September and early October are such awkward months. It's still technically summer until Sept. 22 but our minds are on fall and its fresh new trends. Do we give up our sun dresses and denim cut offs? We can't dive into warm layers and knits because it's still too hot. See what I mean by awkward? I've thought up of ways we can keep wearing our favorite summer staples well into autumn. By adding layers and paring with new colors we'll have entirely new outfits!

OUTFIT IDEAS

Skirt Top Jacket Heels Necklace Bracelet
The maxi skirt is a wonderful piece to add to your fall wardrobe. It gives your legs warmth and lets in the occasional breeze for those warm days. Summer's popular brights won't be going away soon. Wear your favorite neon maxi skirt with camel and cobalt for a more toned down autumn look.

Dress Turtleneck Tights Boots Cross Body
The sundress is my favorite summer staple. To extend the length of wear I simply add black or opaque tights and a cute pair of ankle booties. For added layers, don either a cardigan or a simple black turtleneck sweater under or over the dress.

Shorts Sweater Jacket Sneakers Satchel Watch
The timeless denim cutoffs are so hard to say bye to. For those not ready to depart try adding a long sleeve top or sweater and cute sneaks. When the chilly days arrive you can also don tights underneath the shorts and add a jacket over the long sleeve top.

How do you "autumnize" your summer staples?

Oxblood Obsession

Take a hike tangerine, one of Fall's IT colors, oxblood, owns my heart. I'm just obsessed about it! It's luxurious rich tone is dark, mysterious, dramatic, edgy and sexy. The best complimentary colors are black, gray, navy, and creamy nude. If you could only add one piece into your wardrobe for fall, I suggest anything in oxblood. Check out my favorite pieces in the moody tone.

Fall 2012 Nail Art Trends

I briefly went over one trend here but I wanted to expand on the subject. There are about 7 major nail trends this Fall and I know you'll love them all. These trends were seen on the Fall 2012's models' nails multiple times. They're fun, seasonal, and call for a change in the classics.

Matte
Dark, stormy, and vamp colors do well in matte style. If you don't want to buy all new colors in matte finish, pick this up to matte all your old favorites.

Metallic
Shiny metallic nails, especially silver, are big this season. You can go full out metal or paint only the tips of the nails for a metallic finish.

Duo Colors
Instead of sporting one solid color, now we're seeing multiple colors on each nail or hand. The first image is also an example of a French Twist (look below). This trend leads to a large array of creative ideas that you can't go wrong with.

French Twists
We're changing up a classic and it's been real fun doing so! More colors and materials (look below) have been added and it's not all neutral and proper.

Added Material
We're not just changing up the color, why not go bold and add texture and material? The leather look is superb as well as the fishnet tips in picture two.

Creamy Nudes
If you're feeling for a more classic preppy look, try the creamy sugary nudes out today! Add a little
sparkle or keep it clean and simple. This is a great alternative to the popular dark vamp look.

 Polka Dots
Polka dots are also a trend in clothing. The icon white on black or white on navy are classics that will rightfully never go away. If you're tired of seeing white dots, try a white background and colorful dots.

Little Extra Something!

Whether you do your nails at home or get them done professionally, eventually the polish will chip or smear. Unfortunately, it tends to happen a lot sooner than we like. I have the latest expert advice on how to make your polish last AND list of manicure destroyers.

Make Polish Last

Nix the soak -  Water undermines manicure because nails absorb water therefore changing its shape. Later, when the water evaporates the shape returns back to normal, leaving stress to the polish.

Extra layers - About 4 hours after getting a manicure or doing your nails, apply an extra top layer. Repeat at least twice a week to keep your nails looking fresh. Remember that with each new layer, patience!

Patience - You really do need 25 minutes for polish to set and fully dry. Those quick dry top coats are no good because only the top layer will dry first which means nails can still get smear.

Manicure Destroyers

Hand Lotion - Lotions high in alcohol (pretty much all of them) damage nails because it makes the color dull while slowly stripping off the top coat.

Heat - No folding warm laundry or cooking on a hot oven for you! Poor ;) Like alcohol, heat from laundry and stove softens the polish and dulls color.

Scrubs - Exfoliaters remove dead skill cells and  can also weaken or remove polish. If you must use an exfoliater, try sporting gloves for the application.

Stickers - Removing anything sticky like stickers, price tags, tape, etc. can do a number on your manicure. You can have chips and polish removal while trying to scratch off an annoying piece of tape.
