Father's Day Gift Guide

Father's Day is coming up so soon (Sunday June 16)! Finding the right gift for pop can be really hard and I'm sure he can do without another tie or golf club, am I right? This year, take a moment to think about what Dad likes, what makes him happy, and what he might not get himself but would truly enjoy.

1. Best quality navy gingham shirt; perfect for work and parties.
2. Is your dad still wearing those tacky embarrassing 'dad jeans'? Help the poor guy out by buying him a couple of pairs of classic well fitted jeans. He'll never go back!
3. Soft and comfy PJs are amazing and your dad deserves a pair during those rare relaxing moments.
4. Most men have only one watch they wear in and out but why not offer more variety.
5. Artwork of his passions are a long lasting gift and you're dad will always think of you when he glaces at his piece (a bonus for those dealing with sibling rivalry).
6. Cute but subtle cuff links.
7. Fig and Yarrow Aftershave, soothing, reparative & pore-minimizing spiced infusion of bay leaf, star anise, allspice, juniper berry & cardamom with deep & warming notes of balsamic vanilla, earthy vetiver & leatherish sandalwood. Not only does it smell out of this world but it has healing properties like anti-inflammatory and astringent with the added ability to heal skin damage and stop any bleeding from nicks, calendula is also an exceptional skin healer, protector and soother stimulating collagen synthesis and cell renewal for more vital skin.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day (in the U.S) is on Sunday May 12th. Those blessed with a mother or a mother figure in their life can make this day extra special and less stressful by planning just a little bit ahead. So, instead of running to Walgreen's for a last minute gift, think about what she would really love or wouldn't get herself (if that special gift is from Walgreen's, hell ya!). In fact, your Mother's Day present doesn't have to a be a thing at all. Spending true quality time together doing an activity could be just the perfect gift for the both of you, especially if carving time away is difficult.

Here's my little list of simple, chic, and sweet gifts for your mom. I hope you'll find some inspiration here.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

1 Help mom protect her forever comforting eyes and keep her looking chic in this simple forever in style straw banded fedora.

2 A gold tone slinky chain necklace is a classic wardrobe staple. It goes with practically everything, every event, and your mom will be wearing it for years to come.

3 Treat your mom to a pair of high quality aviator shades that she might not get herself. Now if she's incline to lose her shades then get a few pairs of lesser quality but still fabulous sunglasses.

4 This is what I meant earlier about a mother's day gift not being a thing. Suggestions? Maybe a trip to a spa, get your nails done together, an afternoon at a local bookstore and cafe, attend a free lecture and then grab a bite and talk, go hiking or try out a new bike trail. If you and your mom are more open minded, may I suggest attending a tarot card or psychic reading, take a cooking (or whatever type) class or series of classes together. Whatever you do, be ENGAGED! Talk to her, not at her, and leave the elevator talk at the door. Get to know the woman behind the mom title, I bet you'll learn a great deal about your mom.

5 This elderflower and lime jar candle smells heavenly and its scent is perfect for spring/summer. I love the cute little jar it is in and it can be reused once the wax is cleaned out.

6 Is your mom's wallet or purse getting tattered and worn out? Surprise her with a new one, in her style, of course, and she'll be a happy woman. I know I put off buying purses and wallets because no.1 I'm lazy but no.2 because it seems like a chore.

7 Yummy! These Charbonnel Et Walker Marc De Champagne Dark Chocolate Truffles are divine! Sure at $24 they might be a bit pricey but isn't your mom worth it? Walk pass the traditional and boring boxes of chocolate and head to these truffles or a more speciality chocolate treat for mom. She'll likely never buy these for herself but if you do, ohhh you'll get major daughter points! If mom isn't a chocolates fan (which is weird but that's okay) maybe a lovely Edible's Arrangement.

Gift Guide #7: The Traveler

They're always returning or going away; whether it's for business or pleasure. Either way, their passport is more marked up than your first car and you're certain they're on a first name basis with their airline and staff. You worry about their safety and understand their traveling woos so why not help them out through a gift. A present that can help relieve just one traveling pest will be of big help!

MORE IDEAS
1. Solar powered cellphone charger You never know what can happen so it's best to be safe than sorry with a solar powered charger 2. Gift Guide #6: The Kiddos & Teens

If you don't have children, shopping for them can be daunting. Which toy, book, or size is right? On the other hand, if you have kids, you pray that what they'll receive won't have many parts or require batteries (can we say headaches?!).With the parents' and children's wishes in mind, I've found some pretty cool gifts for the children in your lives. All gifts are $100 and under and can be found a store near you since online shops' before Christmas deadline has passed. If you're looking for something for a teen, jump below!

Gift Guide #5: They Have Everything And Makes Shopping Like Hell

Ugh, there's nothing more frustrating than shopping for someone who has everything. They have tons of jewelry, lots of accent pieces for home, all the tech they would ever desire, and are picky with clothing. Over the years, I've learned that unique and personalized gifts are the way to go as well as thing that they would enjoy but wouldn't buy for themselves.

FOR HER

Find gifts that you know she'll not only love but use like moisturizing bubble bath and body oil. Give her what she's been eyeing but won't buy for herself like the leopard print iPhone case or the fab skull candle holder. If she needs something but is too lazy to get herself, help her out whether it's a new wallet or fabulous weekender bag.

FOR HIM

Men are already hard to shop for and if they have everything, it's damn near impossible. A gift card is always a solid option but you'll want to throw something in a bag for him to open like a new wallet or a cool unusual masculine pipework candelabra. If he's into mind games and strategy, go outside the box with the Ticket To Ride board game. Like with women, gifts that men will use like 'fancy' facial scrub, luxurious body cleaner, or a sturdy weekender bag is another wonderful option because men likely won't buy for themselves but will love to use.

MORE IDEAS
Experiential presents might be the better way to go for those who have everything. Give the gift of an experience or a personalized homemade gift like a scrapbook with shared memories.
Instead of giving just another materialist item, tickets to a new show or concert will be more enjoyable.

A day at a spa, alone, or with you, is always welcomed.

If the person is into outdoor activity like skiing, let your gift be a day's pass at a ski resort.

For the sport lovers, tickets to a local game or to see their favorite team play is another personalized option.
Hello, Awesome - Scrapbook.com
A special personalized scrap book about you and him/her will be a treasure. It shows that you put a lot of thought and work into its making.

Take them about to a special memory filled wine tasting. It's all about the experience and a nice leisurely afternoon of sipping fine wine beats any old thing.

Gift Guide #4: They Were Born In The Wrong Era And Are Secretly Jealous Of Mad Men

Some call them hipsters and roll their eyes but I think they were born in the wrong decade. If you saw them walking down the street you swear you saw a ghost. They wish upon a star for a time machine and are slightly envious of Mad Men. You may know someone who deeply admires the 1920s or the 1960s and when they get a chance, they dress and decorate their home from their favorite period.

I admit, I'm partially this person. I'm actively trying to recreate my home into my mid century dream and am always falling for retro inspired clothing. I love old black and white movies, big band music, and am a swing dancer. But no, if you saw me on the streets, I wouldn't look like a ghost, I haven't gone down the deep end ;) Because I connect so well, I've chosen a few gift ideas (under $100) I think he and she will truly love.
