Sam & Libby X Target

I was in Target, for like my third time this week, and I came across this glorious new shoe rack of stunning shoes. I literally stopped in my tracks and ran over to these Sam & Libby beauties and began drooling. Why didn't Target do a larger announcement of this partnership?! I didn't even this is was going on. Now who are Sam and Libby? In an interview with Forbes, we find out,

"Fashion veterans Sam and Libby Edelman have been in the business of footwear since they began working together on Esprit footwear the 1980s. Their first eponymous company Sam & Libby launched in 1987, eventually generating $88 million sales in just four years. The Edelmans sold the brand to Maxwell Shoe Company in 1996 and stepped away from the industry to focus on family. The hiatus was short-lived.

In 2004, Sam Edelman launched another eponymous brand. “I decided I wanted to start a footwear company that filled a void in the contemporary market,” he tells FORBES. The Edelmans report that since then, they have created more than 18 shoe styles that have each sold more than a million pairs and continue to dominate the contemporary footwear market."source

The Target collection, available in stores and online since May 5th, consist of 20 different styles, with a starting price of $22.99. YES, baby! Here is a sample of the featured designs. I'm loving the touches of neon, perfect for Spring and Summer.

Kate Young X Target

Target is rolling out another fabulous designer collaboration and this time it is with hot celeb stylist Kate Young. Young has worked with clients like Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. In 2012, she was named Hollywood's most powerful stylist by The Hollywood Reporter. Now with her debut line, you can dress like a star without breaking the bank. The limited edition collection, available starting April 14th, features a mix of daytime-cool and upscale occasion classy outfits ($29.99 to $89.99), as well as edgy and elegant shoes, handbags, and accessories ($14.99 to $49.99). It is easy to see her personal style of personal tough-luxe shine through each of her pieces.

What she has to say about her collaboration, "I've been working with Target for a number of years as a stylist, so having the chance to design my own collection with a brand I already know and love is like a dream come true,” said Kate Young. “With this collection, I wanted to design standout pieces that allow women to experiment with fashion and create their own red carpet moments.”.

Year Of The Snake

2013 is the year of the Black Water Snake, according to Chinese  Zodiac. Year of Snake is meant for steady progress and attention to detail. In this arena, snakes are thought of as enigmatic, intuitive, introspective and refined. According to ancient Chinese wisdom, having a snake in your home is a positive omen and means that your family will not starve. However, others view a snake is a bad omen of things to come (all in perspective I suppose).

Each animal of the Chinese zodiac is associated with an element and the snake’s is fire but, in the larger Chinese astrological cycle, 2013 is also associated with water. So, specifically, this year is actually of the Year of the Black Water Snake, a combination of two elements (fire and water). This should make 2013 for an interesting year, huh?

In celebration of the snake, the fashion world is obsession with snake print and snake icons and I've been bitten by the fascination (pun so intended). I'm not a fan of the usage of real snake skin or any animal skin, fur, for that matter, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun playing with snake patterns.
Here's are a couple inspirational collages.

Still Kicking Around

Hello everyone!

It's been almost 2 weeks since my double jaw operation and I'm still kicking around. It's been a very emotionally draining and tiring recovering process but I'm taking it day by day. My birthday was on Sunday and I knew I wouldn't be able to celebrate it in the normal way (food, party, etc.) so I did do a little birthday shopping days before the surgery.

I went shopping at Forever 21 and tried to keep in mind fun spring trends and dresses. Check out the gorgeous trends, what I bought, and other cute items I eyed.

They Fit!!

Can I tell you a little personal story about me and pair of leopard pants? About two years ago I entered a contest giveaway by Hot Kiss. The contest was to write about my first kiss and the story Hot Kiss loved the best would win a pair of fabulous leopard print skinny pants. Afer writing my story I won! I was so excited to receive my first pair of patterned denim and to write a fun outfit post featuring the pair. I sent away my information and waited anxiously for its arrival. About 1-2 weeks later, the pants arrived. I quickly grabbed the pair and ran to my bedroom to try them on. I felt like I was really coming along in style and was going to be able post my first outfit post on my at the time newbie blog. As I slipped my legs into each leg, my face drained of all color. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't fit. I couldn't pull up the zipper or button it completely without looking like an overpacked sausage. I checked the size and they were the right size. I didn't want to send the pants back for a bigger size because I felt embarrassed. Instead, it stayed hidden in the back of my closet.

Occasionally, I tried to slip them back on and see if I could fit and I end up disappointed. Even when I was really into exercising and eating extremely healthy or a serious couch potato, they wouldn't fit. I guess the average girl would just give them away but I couldn't bring myself to donate. Slowly, I learned to stop counting calories on my iPhone app (Fitness Pal) and over pushing myself with exercise. I replaced those habits with mindful portion control, drinking water to help stay full and hydrated, and repeating this phrase in my head, 'no matter how slow I go, I'm still going faster than the butts on the couch'.

With that being said, I can happily report than I can fit in those jeans! They're a little tight around the hips but at least I can zip up, button, and move with ease. I didn't lose any significant weight nor inches nor did I try to stretch the pair out through washing and drying yet they fit. It's magic ;)
