New Town, Crappy Thrift Shops

Thrift Shop.

One of the great things I like about moving to a new town is the exploration of it. It's fun finding the popular hang out places, restaurants, the cool parks, and my favorite, the best thrift shops. I love going to places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Savers because I'm able to find wonderful, unique household items, furniture, and clothing that's been gently used and still looks great. Sadly, I'm having a hell of a time finding the ONE near my place in Virginia. Today, I did spend the afternoon looking at 4 shops and I just wasn't impressed. Most were poorly lit and overcrowded with dusty merchandise and tiny knick knacks.

My hope is that if I look outside town and into the more popular cities, I'll find what I'm looking for. So please, wish me luck on my search for the perfect thrift/consignment shop :)

What's your thrift/consignment shop experience?
Do you have a neighborhood favorite?

  1. I actually don't like thrift stores. The ones where I live aren't very good. If I'm going thrifting it has to be in a vintage store. There was a great one called Wear It Again Sam, but they're an online store now.

I'm sure the thrifting will be better in the city. Sorry it's not too great where you are.

  6. Vintage shops where I live are crappy as well, but the true question is....Were you going piece by piece on every shelf and rack?

Hey ummm I couldn't resist what I am about to ask you regarding a comment you wrote on my blog post Streetstyle edition. Did you really think that was a man wearing a dress lol?
